Grant access in GA4
- Sign in to Google Analytics and select the correct account and GA4 property.
- Choose Admin.
- Open Account Access Management for broad account access, or Property Access Management for one property.
- Select the add button, choose Add users and enter the person’s Google account email address.
- Assign only the role needed, review any data restrictions and save.
Choose the least privilege
A Viewer can read reports; an Analyst can create shared analysis assets; an Editor can change property configuration; and an Administrator can manage users and settings. Most agencies only need Viewer or Analyst access for an audit. Broader access should have a clear operational reason.
Protect ownership
- Keep at least two trusted internal administrators.
- Enable multi-factor authentication on privileged accounts.
- Review access when staff or suppliers leave.
- Do not transfer control through a personal password or a generic shared login.
Share the related platforms separately
Google Tag Manager, Search Console, Google Ads and Business Profile each have their own permission systems. Analytics access alone does not grant access to those products.
